The Basics Needed to Send Fax Documents Online

1. Web Browser – In order to send fax documents online, you will need a web browser. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox will work just fine.
2. Internet Access - You cannot send fax documents through the internet without an internet connection. Not any internet connection will do, however. You will need a broadband or DSL connection. Dial-up and cable modem connections will not work for an online fax service.
3. Computer or Other Internet Capable Device – You will need a computer or other device that can connect to the internet in order to send fax documents online. A desktop or laptop computer, PDA, smart phone or iPad will work just fine in connecting you to your online fax service.
4. Online Fax Service – Every user will need an online fax service in order to send fax documents online. You can find one through a list of providers and sign-up with one online.
5. Fax Phone Number – Unlike your traditional fax machine, you do not need a physical land line in order to fax. You do, however, need a fax phone number that is virtual. When you sign up for an online fax service they will automatically assign you a virtual fax number. If you have a land line number that you like, then your online fax service can port over your number for a small fee.
6. Email Account – If you plan to send fax documents through your email account, then you will need to have an email inbox in order to do so. You can get free email accounts from providers such as Hotmail, MSN, Gmail, Yahoo or any other free server.
